CFi Coach - Alison Fletcher

An empathic coach and supervisor whose career has included education, print journalism, publishing, organizational consultancy and technical management in the BBC, Alison Fletcher has a wealth of leadership experience in media organizations and the public sector.

Alison combines strong analytical and intellectual skills with a supportive, energizing style. Her knowledge of coaching psychology allows her to draw from a range of approaches to work creatively with her clients and act as a catalyst for new perspectives to emerge. Having pioneered the BBC’s First 100 Days coaching programme she has a particular interest in the challenges facing leaders in transition.

A former member of the management team of the award-winning BBC Coach Network, Alison has a particular talent for making theoretical models relevant and accessible and has won high praise from clients as a trainer, supervisor and coach developer.

As principal of The Coach Within, Alison works with organizations to help them develop their internal coaching capability and designs and delivers coach competency development programmes. A director of Akatemia Community Interest Company, she has a deep interest in adult learning and entrepreneurship.

CFi Coach - Caroline Elliot

Trained as a Management Coach in 2007 and has practical experience of coaching up to the most senior level. She is also experienced in training and development, negotiation, crisis management, organisational change and policy formation.

At the BBC for many years she was responsible for leading operational change as well as managing staff and budgets. Caroline also implemented training and development for staff working in the BBC’s national radio stations. She was a Producer in both Radio and TV, an Editor, Head of Department and Board member for BBC Radio.

Caroline’s training specialisms include management and leadership development, business continuity, media skills, executive coaching and mentoring.

Eva Pinkavova

Eva is an executive coach, leadership development and change consultant working with organisations in the US, UK and Central Europe. Over 20 years experience from operational to board level has given her considerable insight into leadership and management across a range of cultures, organizations and issues. As a Czech/English native speaker she has first hand understanding of the impact of language and culture on business outcomes. She is based in the Pacific NW of the USA.

Eva’s coaching style is founded on first hand understanding of change and transition in both personal and business environments. She creates relationships of high trust so that clients feel able to explore the real issues. She then helps them find solutions that are right for them, challenging and supporting them to develop their sense of control, choice and responsibility and to create successful and productive environments for themselves and their teams. Typically she helps clients develop their own capacity to self-coach, creating real and lasting change which goes beyond the coaching assignment. She has contributed to developing a coaching culture in the BBC by being part of the team which trains senior BBC executives as internal coaches on an award winning 4 month programme, described by many participants as life-changing.

Eva’s early career was as linguist and journalist with the BBC World Service. Her passion for developing people and promoting cultural understanding led her to professional executive coaching via roles in HR and learning and development. Her business experience includes establishing a start up translation services organization for Unisys in Prague in the Czech Republic. As HR Director on the main board of a specialist IT company supplying software to Reuters, she steered the organization to achieving ‘Investors in People’ and managed a number of reorganizations in support of business strategy. Her work as an ‘Investors in People’ assessor provided insight into a considerable range of organisations and management styles.

Eva’s qualifications include an MA in Coaching and Mentoring Practice. She is a Chartered Fellow of the UK’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and member of the US Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) and International Coach Federation (ICF).

CFi Coach - Liz Macann

With a history in general management, HR, OD and Consultancy, Liz Macann co - founded the BBC’s in-house coaching provision. As Head of Executive, Leadership and Management Coaching, Liz evolved the initial offer into the Executive Coaching Network which won the 2008 International Coach Federation award for best practise and professionalism. During her 11 years in the role Liz created the executive coach training course (accredited through the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and International Coach Federation) and was responsible for the selection, professional training and development of approx 90 coaches and the service they provide.

As an Executive Coach herself, Liz has a diverse client group of senior executives and leaders as well as being Supervisor to Executive Coaches across the industry. As guest tutor on a number of public coach training courses Liz influences the standards and practise of Coaches world wide.

Nationally, Liz takes a leading role in the development of Coaching as a profession, participating in the activities of the Association of Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, the Association for Coaches, and the International Coach Federation. She is a speaker at national and international conferences and seminars on the subject of coaching in the workplace and sits on the editorial board of Coaching at Work.

As well as being an APECS, AC and ICF accredited Coach, Liz is trained in Brief Therapy, Constellations Therapy, Career Management Coaching and Coach Supervision. She is qualified to administer, interpret and give feedback on a number of psychometric instruments.

Liz was voted Coach of the Year by readers of Coaching at Work.

CFi Coach - Michael Stock

One of the co-founders of CFi Coaching (Coach First International), Michael is an externally ICF accredited and BBC trained Executive Coach working in UK, Asia and Africa, covering new, established and senior leaders, 360 feedback, career coaching and is also an NLP Practitioner and non-executive director.

Until 2011, Michael was BBC Project Director and Head of Business & Partnerships for Marketing, Communications and Audiences, responsible for £100m projects, covering: Project leadership, strategy, marketing, communications, outsourcing, performance, quality, change, innovation, negotiation, contract, commercial and relationship management.

In the last year Michael delivered: 4th generation Audience Services for the BBC with substantial improvement in VFM.Developed the communications strategy for pan-BBC sustainability project. Provided in-country leadership development for BBC World Service Trust to build capacity in Asia and Africa,http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/trust/. Strategy and business development work for Corporate Responsibility Group UK http://www.crguk.org/, andTrue Volunteer Foundation.

Before joining BBC Radio in 1994, Michael worked as a lawyer from 1981 and had set up Sound Advice on BBC Radio 5 and launched The Adviser magazine. He established the BBC's first contact centre and later took a BBC sponsored MBA, specialising in negotiation, loyalty and globalization, co-producing one of the first reportsand films on offshoring, 'The Call for India'.

Michael was also a co-founder and international board Director of CCA-Global, the UK based Customer Contact Association and is currently board Director, National Outsourcing Association, responsible for Communications and Offshoring and will be presenting at an Asia Pacific Leaders Convention in China November 2011.

Apart from work, travel has been a big part of Michael's life. He is a member of the Royal Geographical Society in London and recently spent time in a wildlife reserve in South Africa and later travelled to remote areas of Ethiopia. However nowadays, travel is as likely to be on bicycle in London or cycling along river tow-paths in South West England.

CFi Coach - Penny Berry

Penny is an Executive and Career Coach and Coach Supervisor with a wealth of leadership experience in the media and in industry, both in the UK and overseas, latterly as Features Editor for the Television News channels, BBC World News and BBC News Channel. There she led creative teams of programme makers and presenters producing weekly documentaries and News programmes in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Penny’s experience as a leader began in her twenties, managing a factory unit of 100 staff in Scotland with the Imperial Group. After moving to the Arabian Gulf, she re-trained as a Newsreader and Journalist and helped start up a small independent law firm in Dubai. Returning to London in 1994 she joined BBC News, where she spent 16 years before leaving in 2010 to concentrate on coaching and leadership development.

Since then her clients have included executives and managers at all levels in the media, finance, marketing and charity sectors.

Penny’s coaching style is solution focused. She works with her clients in the firm belief that they are both talented and resourceful and so hold the keys to their own success: her role is to help them achieve their goals by unlocking their potential. She has particular experience of coaching clients through organisational and personal transitions and in the development of resilience and vision under pressure.

Penny has been described as having a creative and engaging presence, particularly strong on rapport and support but challenging from a place of care and respect for her clients. She has a Psychology degree from Bristol University and has been a qualified practising coach since 2004.

Penny was born in Habbaniyah, central Iraq, and spent her childhood and much of her adult life in the Arabian Gulf and Iran. She has travelled extensively for work and for leisure. She currently lives just outside London.

CFi Coach - Steve Pollock

Steve Pollock has held several board level roles in the BBC, including Education and Learning, Marketing, Communications and Audiences and the BBC Trust. He qualified as a Leadership Coach with the award winning BBC coaching service in 2006 and has worked with senior executives, established leaders and new managers coaching them to address their individual challenges, whilst working as a senior manager himself. He has also supervised other coaches.

Steve has a wide range of experience and expertise gained from working across many disciplines all of which have enabled him to understand the needs and behaviour of customers and set up services to respond to those needs, as well as deliver campaigns to create customer impact and manage an outsource contract to deliver an award winning service for the client. The approach Steve uses to business is always to be open, develop trust and to innovate through experimentation and learning in order to create effective "business as usual" outcomes.

Having developed models for successful BBC learning and health campaigns, such as Computers Don’t Bite, Webwise and Fighting Fit, Fighting Fat, Steve was part of the University for Industry transition team to help create the corporate plan for what is now LearnDirect. He then went on to lead the customer contact function of the BBC contributing to the launch of Freeview, setting up a new complaints service and innovating the customer contact experience for the BBC iPlayer and other online services. Steve was the chair of the Customer Contact Association’s Industry Board which amongst other things provides thought leadership for the contact centre industry.

Steve is also an award winning author of popular natural history, science and environment books and is a fellow of the Society of Biology. He has been involved with a number of charities such as Comic Relief and for several years was a member of the Council of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

CFi Coach - Vali Lalioti

Vali is co-Founder of CFi Coaching (CoachFirst), founder and CEO of ValiLalioti Associates and Affiliate Professor in Leadership at Antwerp Management School. Vali is an insightful coach with a solid technology and business background. She works with global executives, business schools and corporations and has unique experience in bridging strategy, marketing and technology with a powerful coaching approach to accelerate growth.

Vali holds a PhD in IT and an MBA in Marketing and Strategy, has worked in Europe, the USA and Africa and often works in bridging innovation and business and in situations of considerable change. As Principal Technology Consultant, she accelerated transformation of the BBC to face the challenges of the digital era, mobilising external consultants, senior leaders and industry partners to deliver an innovative digital workflow, simultaneously realising a 15% operational cost reduction by creating effective supplier partnerships. As Research & Technology Manager in the BBC, she invented and navigated technology transfer to a fully managed service within a year, delivering previously unavailable services and a 50% operational saving, and as Professor in South Africa, she envisioned, set-up and brought to international recognition within 3 years, a high-tech centre, negotiating win-win international partnerships with manufacturers and securing €1M in funding.

Her effective coaching across organisational, cultural and geographical boundaries helps bring business acumen, technological expertise and creative talent together to face the challenges ahead. Vali seamlessly brings together a people centred approach with a rigorous framework that incorporates a unique blend of coaching and business and leadership tools to coach the whole person, connecting business objectives with personal talents, values and drivers, creating a transformational coaching partnership that delivers to the organisational objectives. She creates an open and relaxed space, to build trust and to challenge the client’s beliefs and assumptions with clean language and powerful questioning.
